MODE OF ACTION
FX06 has a three-pronged effect on the microvasculature:
- It prevents the transmigration of leukocytes by antagonizing pro-inflammatory fibrin E1 fragment. Thereby an acute inflammatory reaction is stopped in its tracks with the consequence of a reduction in tissue damage.
- It stabilizes the endothelial barrier function by preventing stress-induced rearrangement of the endothelial cell actin cytoskeleton. The consequence is the prevention of edema formation.
- It antagonizes vasoconstrictive signals induced by a number of mediators. The consequence is a reduction of arteriolar spasm, which in conjunction with the edema is a hallmark of microvascular dysfunction.
